Reflection: My view of Elizabeth

Lake Elizabeth is only a few blocks away from my home. On this day, I decided to ride my bike around her 3 mile radius. It was a perfect day for this. A cool 70 degrees at around 7pm. The sun was coming down and a cool breeze ran through me as I spun my way towards her. A small amount of stop signs here and red lights there and I was there in no time.

As you approach many of her winding paths, many colorful trees adorn the waters edge. Red, green and more green reach stretch towards the water.

This tree below is the same red tree as shown above. The magic of the setting sun to change the appearance of the same object while making its orbit around the earth.

Pedestrians 10 POINTS! Bike riders, dog walkers, baby strollers, roller bladders, there is room for everyone.

No time to sit on this day. As exercise was my main focus. But the view from this bench out towards the setting sun...is... inspirational!

Feed them and they will come! The amount of birds reminds me of the plaza in Venice with all the birds. I wonder where they sleep once the sun goes down and the last visitor leaves for the night.

Rebellion : Girls Gone Wild: NOPE!

Girls gone wild. It looks like it. But no! It was the scene at the RR concert. Robert Randolph concert in SF on Friday night. I don't remember what song was on but he invited all the ladies up on stage. His fans are a mixed group let me tell you. Girls representing many different decades were
up there. 60's all the way through now and they each represented their time in fashion and dance moves.
His concert was long 3hrs or it felt that way. My favorite song he sings is "Ain't nothing wrong". He sang this song last but it was worth the wait. I was even able to discover new music. His opening act Ryan Shaw - song "We got Love".

Rebellion: Com·Part·Men·Tal·ize

compartmentalize: definition: to divide into categories or even compartments.

My favorite use in a sentence: "You will learn the ability to compartmentalize ethics" ( Ellen Goodman).

Reflection: Insomnia - 4:30am

The great black horse racing through my mind,
Expanding space, denying time
Keeping me awake, not allowing me to sleep
Head keeps pounding--wish I could weep
Sleeplessness, Tearlessness
Bells in my head
My heart starts to pound as I head for bed
"No-Go back-Don't climb up the stairs,
You'll stay awake absorbed by your cares."
Thus says the Black Horse
As he denies me my rest, makes my thoughts race,
He does his best to keep me awake,
Not allow me to sleep, not to clear my mind--
Wish I could weep.

Gone without rest for four long days,
He'll keep me awake as long as he stays.
Go away Black Horse, Please leave my head--
No torture, no longer, Let's go to bed--
Let's go to sleep--Perhaps shall we dream?
"Of course," says the horse, "and then you shall scream,
You'll scream through the dark and then wake the dead--
That's what you'll get for going to bed!"
So awake I shall stay,
Damn that Black Horse!
He wins this battle as a matter of course
But will he win always or shall I succeed
In getting some sleep--what must I concede?
I'll give him his due, he's done his best,
Robbed me of sleep, denied me my rest.
Awake against time--how can this be bad?
I'll just go insane instead of just sad.

Rebellion: Quote for today!

How come if alcohol kills millions of brain cells, it never killed the ones that made me want to drink? - Author Unknown.

Reflection: Captured

It was your typical Sunday afternoon and I was doing your typical Sunday afternoon things. When all of a sudden I got a spark of energy and creativity. I have been very interested lately in Photography. To be more specific the composition part of photography. For you already photo hobbiest you know what I mean. So I got off the couch grabbed my camera and went for a walk. Along my walk, I was very conscious of my photographic eye, every object whether man made or natural jumped out at me and I was able to Capture a different point of view. I was able to see the simple natural beauty in these objects and that was incredible!

In order to capture some of these images, my instinct and "recent reading" told me to use unconventional approaches to taking pictures. The photo above these yellow flowers were everywhere I looked. I took this picture because it reminded me of a life already lived ( example the flowers in bloom) and it also reminded me of birth a life just starting ( take note of the buds that have not yet bloomed).

I thought this was a Cherry Blossom and this was my main reason for taking this picture and my main motivation for getting off the couch this day. This was the image I wanted to capture. These trees also aligned the streets along my walk. There are many and all capture my attention every time I see them. In this pix I also got in close as recommended. I am glad I did because I am able to share so much more with you all than just a Cherry Blossom tree. Don't you agree?

Stay tuned.. I am taking another walk this weekend!
